A Merry Christmas in Santa Barbara!

We went to Santa Barbara for Christmas this year and all of the Murphys (and a few Shelbys, too!) were under one roof!

Before we left home for CeeCee and Papa's house, we let K open her stocking presents from St. Nick...a few new necklaces and bracelets for the accessories Queen, and new paints and markers for her new Easel from DeeDee and Grandpa Shelby.

We made it up to Santa Barbara early on Christmas Eve. We tried to get K to leave cookies and milk for Santa CeeCee and Papa's mantle, but each time we even brought up Santa's name, K would say "No Santa!" She was scarred from Mama's attempt to get her to sit on Santa's lap the day before. She would not go near the fireplace where Mama set the cookies and milk.

Even so, on Christmas morning, Santa brought K a few of her favorite things! Elmo, of course, and a vanity made for a princess with all kinds of fun new stuff for K to fix her hair and makeup.

Because K was so afraid of Santa, when we told her that he brought her presents, it still took her a little bit to warm up to the idea of going to see what might be in the living room. I think she was afraid that Santa might still be there.

She was a little afraid of Elmo at first, but she eventually warmed up to him.

CeeCee showed her the new pink vanity and all of her new accessories, including brushes, curlers and new barrettes for her hair

She had a few more presents, but wasn't quite sure if she wanted to open them

Her next gift was new jammies! She wanted to put them on right away!

Then, she gave hugs and kisses for all of her new goodies!

Later that day, Auntie Lauren came to Santa Barbara for her few days off. It was so nice to have her there to celebrate Christmas with the whole Murphy clan!

And there was a beautiful sunset, so we got to take a few pictures...

CeeCee, K, and Papa

CeeCee and Papa have an orange tree, a lemon tree, and an avocado tree in their backyard, and K loves to go out there to pick fruit. The yard is super steep, so she needs a little help maneuvering...Uncle Conor to the rescue!

K loves to play the damsel in distress, expecially around Uncle Conor and Uncle Bri!

She's got her little bag of fruit

K's favorite thing to do at CeeCee and Papa's is to play in the fountain

And she loves to eat the oranges

CeeCee and Papa put a little train up with Santa, a reindeer, and snowman in the yard, so that when K looks out the living room window, she can see it. The only trouble is that, after traumatic experience visiting Santa, she would only say, "No Santa! No Santa!" Uncle Bri finally got her to get remotely close to the choo choo...

We had a wonderful Christmas and were so happy to be with all of the Murphys and a Shelby, too!
