K is singing up a storm, even when she's just by herself. Some of her favorites right now are "Hap Birt-day" (Happy Birthday), "Jingle Bells," and "Oh, Kis-mus Tee" (Oh, Christmas Tree). I love to hear her sing...it melts my heart! K loves music, and loves to dance. She likes the kid music, but seems to love popular music, which can have certain inappropriate lyrics (this can be a problem when you have an almost-2-year-old who repeats everything!). Luckily, for Christmas, she got a few of the Kidzbop CD's with all of her favorite songs sung by kids with kid-friendly lyrics. It's my new favorite thing! K can sing and dance all she wants and I don't have to worry about her repeating bad words to the other kids at Stroller Strides!
K's absolute favorite activity right now is to play "Tee Pawty" (Tea Party). She's obsessed! And will play with anyone who is available. She heats the water in her play teapot on her play stove, and pours you a cup. Then, she'll bake you some pretend cupcakes and put them on a plate with a spoon. And she tells you exactly where to sit in her playroom. Sometimes, Bear, or Pooh, or Kitty join us, but Mama and/or Dada must be present and she is relentless with her invitations to Tea Pawty.
K knows all of her colors, can say her ABC's, and is counting to 20 (sometimes just to 12, and then skips a few to get to 20...it depends on the day!) She is starting to recognize some of her letters, like A, B, and X, and we are working on numbers and shapes. K has seen Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving, and a Charlie Brown Christmas, which is her new favorite! Even though her TV watching is still very limited, she makes more requests for Charlie Brown than for Elmo and Abby, which is saying a lot! Earlier this month, we were working on her colors and I asked her what color something was. Instead of responding that it was brown, she said "Charlie Brown!" It was hilarious!
In a complete reverse maneuver, K is actually into "princess dresses" ever since "May-May and Bih-hee's wed-deen" (Megan and Billy's wedding). She loves getting her picture taken and is quite the poser for the camera
Your Mama and Dada love you, precious girl!
