K is 2 1/2 years old today!

Time flies when you are having fun! And K is hilarious! She makes us laugh every single day. She weighs 37 lbs. and is 39 1/2 in. tall. Patrick jokes that she's almost as tall as me, and the truth is, she's getting close! When I pick her up to hold her, her legs hang down to my knees. It's pretty funny! She's wearing size 4 in pretty much all of her clothes, and she wears a size 10 shoe. Where has the time gone?!

Her latest, and most-often-used, phrase right now is "Whoopsy daisy!" I have no idea where she heard it (I rarely say it), but it's one of her favorites when she drops something. Another one is "Right now!" She has spent quite a bit of this past week in time-out for using it inappropriately, like when she wants to go to the park, or when she wants a treat (ice cream, cupcake, etc.). It is often accompanied by stomping her feet or jumping up and down; aah, the terrible twos! At least I know where she picked it up (minus the feet-stomping and jumping!): when we're in public and she's running away from me, I will tell her to "Come here right now!" or "Stop right now!" It's not very effective because she thinks it's a game. I'm always afraid she's going to run in front of a moving car, so my heart is usually beating about a thousand miles a minute.

A few other favorites are "rumber" (remember), "real quick," and "be right back." We'll be playing tea pawty in her playroom and she'll say, "Mama, be right back. Have to get Pooh out my bed." She puts her little friends down for naps quite frequently. Usually Pooh, or Teh-ee Bear (Teddy Bear), or Key (Kitty) are sleeping in either her bed or my bed. She will shut the door, and then tell me (in a whisper), "Mama, have to be real quiet. Teh-ee Bear is sleepen." And she is obsessed with distinguishing boys from girls, "Mama, Teh-ee Bear is a l'il boy, and Key is a gull (girl)."

Teh-ee Bear goes EVERYWHERE with her. She is finally to the point where she will crawl into the car and sit in her carseat. She needs a little help with the buckle, but before she will do anything, she has to buckle her Teh-ee Bear into the backseat next to her. It's pretty cute, but takes a lot of patience on my part when we're late!

K wants to live at the park these days. She wakes up in the morning and asks, "Mama, where we goin'?" If I say anywhere other than the park, it's unacceptable. We go through the same routine after nap. We usually make it to the park at least once, if not, twice a day. And of course, Teh-ee Bear must come, too. He rides in style in her "hot pink sole-er" (stroller). Even if we're driving to choo choo park, I cannot forget the hot pink stroller in the trunk of the car or we have a full-blown meltdown when we get there.

She is almost fully potty trained and we are almost diaper-free!!! She doesn't need a diaper at naptime anymore, and she rarely needs one at night, but we keep one on just in case. During the day, she goes into the bathroom and goes potty all by herself and we haven't had an accident in a long time (knock on wood). I know that this is TMI, but it's hilarious...if she has to go poo-poo, she goes into the bathroom and shuts the door for privacy, "Mama, go out!" When she's all finished, she calls me in to help her out, and then proceeds to tell me about her poo-poo, "Mama, it's a seal one!" or "Mama, it's a teh-ee bear one!" I laugh so hard on the inside, but try to keep it to myself so that she doesn't get embarrassed.

Going potty is, by far, her favorite form of procrastination at naptime or bedtime. For now, we are still taking her every time she says she has to go, but it is so frustrating when it can last up to an hour after putting her to bed! She is going to bed around 7:00 p.m. now, and sleeps until about 6:30 a.m. Because she is potty trained, the urge to go sometimes wakes her up in the wee hours of the morning. Sometimes she will go back to sleep; sometimes not. But we're so proud of her for telling us instead of just going in her diaper! She's still napping 2-3 hours a day, which is great for me to get things done!  She is also sleeping in her crib since we have been potty training...I didn't want to do too much at one time.

My baby girl is all set to start preschool on Thursday! I really can't believe it! She will be going 2 mornings per week for now, and I have to say that I am so sad. She's growing up way too fast! Even though she will go to preschool for 3 years before starting kindergarten, which seems like a lot, I know in my heart that she really is ready for some independence. And I will be able to workout on my own (maybe even go back to the gym!) and get my errands done, so that it's all funtime with K when she's home. I just hope that I can drop her off at school without crying my eyes out (or at least wait until I get in the car!). If anyone asks her about school, she'll say, "I'm going to preschool, and Mama gonna cry." Wish me luck!

Getting her dressed and out the door on time in the morning is going to be a challenge.  She insists on picking out her own clothes now (always a "princess dress" even if just a tunic and pants), and wants to dress herself.  She also has to pick out specific big girl pants (undies) each morning.  Repunzel undies are the fave!  I can only brush her hair in the bath each evening with a heavy dose of conditioner and a very special brush.  And she rarely lets me put a bow or barette in her hair even though it hangs in her eyes and she cannot see.  She always tells me I can put in the barette "when we get there."  But never at home. I am loving her brand new haircut even though it was so hard to cut her baby curls!  When wet, her hair was down to the middle of her back!  The curls spring up into the cutest bob and it is much easier to manage.

Mimi came to town this weekend and K was in heaven because she spent many hours at the park...K and Mimi on the way to choo choo park yesterday
K and Teh-ee Bear, with buckets and shovels in tow
It was such a beautiful day!

K loves to swing, and even more so with her Teh-ee Bear!
She often swings Teh-ee Bear by himself, and then wants to leave him to swing while she goes to climb and slide. She doesn't understand why he can't occupy a swing when the park is packed and kids are lined up to swing.
Having fun on the slide...
...and the shoes and socks are coming off!
No shoes! Her favorite way to be!
