K's First Haircut!

I waited a little while before I was willing to touch her beautiful, baby curls. But her hair has been a little difficult to manage over the last few weeks. Even with my super special brush, it's hard to get all of the knots out. I have been asking K for a few weeks if she would like to go and get her hair cut like Mama and Dada. Each time, she responded with a resounding "no." So on Thursday, we tagged along with her BFF, Keaton, while he got his hair cut at the kid salon up the street. I thought that maybe if she saw Keaton do it, she would be willing too. She watched him get a lollipop, bubbles, a cool cape with Robots, and a movie. She thought it was pretty cool!

On Friday, it was K's turn. Mimi and I took her to the salon and she knew exactly where we were going. She got her lollipop and sat in the chair. Here are the "before" pictures...

Once she had the cape on (a cool one with rock stars and guitars!), panic set in.

The tears started to flow and she said, "Mama, I have to go potty." So I took her to the potty, but quickly realized it was merely a stall tactic. We coaxed K back into the chair with a few toys, a fairy necklace from Mimi, and Toy Story on the flat screen in front of her. We got her to stop crying, but she was pretty much frozen like a mannequin, with her hands clutched around the lollipop and toys.

And then she started to get into Toy Story...

She even started to smile and laugh...
And forgot she was even getting her hair cut.
Her hair was so long!
After...
We only got a little taken off of the ends, and of course, we saved a baby curl for her baby book. She was such a big girl throughout the process and we are so proud of her! On the way home, she kept saying that she "can't want to get a haircut" (doesn't want to get a haircut). I told her that we don't have to go back any time soon. I have a feeling that her next haircut might be a challenge, too, but I'll cross that bridge when we get there.
