Here is our little golfer...
Outside and ready for some trick-or-treating (even though she's not quite sure what that is yet!)
Off we go...
Auntie M tried to show K how it is done
K loves to pose for the camera and even says "Cheese!"
Knock! Knock!
K loved the pumpkins and figured out that a pumpkin meant the house might have some candy for her!
We only visited a few houses, but K got the hang of it pretty quickly. She would walk up to the door and knock very softly. She wouldn't say anything when they opened the door, and would sometimes hide behind me. But, if they held out the bowl of candy, she figured out that she could take one and put it in her little bag. She was so excited to go to the next house!
It was just 6:00 p.m., still light outside, and only babies were out trick-or-treating. We were getting ready to head back to Megan's house and were going to one more house before stopping at Megan's neighbor's house to visit his puppies (which K would love).
K knocked on one more door, and a guy jumped out in a scary alien mask, yelling "roar"!!! K ran away screaming and literally jumped into my arms, wrapping her arms around my neck for dear life. She was screaming-crying and shaking! I have never felt so helpless as a parent. I was so concerned about K and could do nothing, but turn around and run away from the guy's house with K in my arms. I was afraid that if I did what I wanted to do to this strange man who would purposely scare a baby - my baby - that it would frighten K even more. The guy didn't even apologize; didn't remove the mask; and did nothing to show K that it was make-believe.
It took a good 10 minutes to calm K down, and all she would say was "All done" - no more trick-or-treating! And would not let me set her down. Thank goodness for the puppies! At least they gave her a little happiness after the horror of her first trick-or-treating experience. And thank you to CeeCee and Auntie M for staying up to watch Charlie Brown's The Great Pumpkin! It was impossible to get K to go to bed, and when I finally did get her to sleep, she had nightmares all night! I wish I could erase that horrible man from K's memory, and I hope that by next Halloween, she has no recollection. I'm thinking that we stay home next year, and maybe only visit houses where we know nice people live.
"All done" and ready to go inside
She even took the lanterns in
Every time the doorbell rang, K would get scared, so we eventually had to turn out the lights. When that didn't work, Auntie M put up a big sign that said "Do Not Ring Doorbell; Baby Sleeping; No More Candy!"
What a cute costume! I am glad that K survived such a frightful Halloween!
