K is 18 Months Old!

It's going by too quick! My baby is now a toddler and it has happened right before my eyes! K weighs 32 pounds and is 35 inches tall! She has gotten most of her molars (It's been a little bit rough for her with those toofers coming through!), and only has a few more to go. As a result, she has gotten quite picky with her meals and I sometimes end up giving her a bowl of cereal because she refuses to eat any of her dinner. And sometimes, she won't even eat the cereal!

K's vocabulary is increasing at warp speed. Some of her new favorite words are "outside," "wa-wa" (water), "duce" (juice), "pool," "beach," and "meowl" (what the "kiki" says). She has learned a lot of animal sounds, too, like that the monkey says "ooh ooh aah aah," and the sheep says "baaaaa". She is OBSESSED with Abby and Elmo (She now says "Elmo" instead of "Melmo") from Sesame Street and talks about them all day long! For some reason, she calls grapes "apples," but she absolutely loves them and will eat lots of them, so we just go with it!

When it is time to go to bed, she asks for "num-in-as" (food, when she's just had dinner), "duce" (juice, when she has already had her juice that day), and "wa-wa" (which she gets to take to bed with her). She thinks she's so sneaky trying to postpone bedtime! Once she is in bed and it is time to go to sleep, she calls for everyone she knows to come and rescue her..."Momma," "Dada," Baby, Na-Na (her blanket). When we were staying with Grandma Mimi and Grandpa Bill, she would call for them, too. When Grandma and Grandpa Murphy were here, she would call for them, too. When we stayed with our friends, Jesse and Amy in Orange County, she even called for Amy in the middle of the night! She likes to call Dada on the phone and tell him all about her day (she really just says every word she knows..."shoes, socks, cheese, baby"). It's hilarious!

We bought her a little potty to hopefully start potty training. At first, she wanted nothing to do with it and would cry anytime she got near it. One day, she pointed to it and said poop. So I took down her pants and took her diaper off. She sat down on the potty, but then popped up and said "no, no." If you have ever seen K say no, she does it with her whole head and whole body. She stood up, and as soon as she did, she wet the floor right next to the potty! We are working on her getting a little more comfortable. Maybe next time, the pee pee will make it inside the potty, instead of on the floor, but it's progress!

Here are a few shots of K playing outside Glamma Donna and Grandpa Shelby's house in Ft. Myers. She looked so cute and was so happy for the camera!
