Merry Christmas 2013!

As many of you know, we travel every year for Christmas.  For the first time ever, we spent Christmas at home in our house.  On Christmas Eve, the kids and I met some friends at the park while Patrick worked in the morning, and then we met up at home to relax and cook a nice dinner.  We spent Christmas Eve together as a family and it was wonderful! In honor of starting our own traditions on the first of many Christmases we hope to have in our house, I bought everyone a gift that they got to open on Christmas Eve before bed.  I borrowed the idea from my friend, Kelly. Each year, her mom buys matching pajamas for the whole family to wear on Christmas morning.  So this year, the Murphys got matching jammies to wear on Christmas Eve night!

I thought for sure that Patrick would rebel against my idea, but instead, he embraced the wonderful cheesiness!  He immediately said, "We are so wearing these in the car on our drive to Santa Barbara tomorrow!"  And with that, we all put on our matching jammies and headed off to bed.  But not before we left cookies and milk out for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer :)

While we were sleeping, Santa came and left wonderful gifts under our tree!  While B was the first to wake, it was K's impression that I wanted to capture on film.  After a bit of a rocky start (Dada accidentally stepped on her toe on the way down the stairs!), she was really excited open her gifts (and B's gifts, too!).  Santa must have really enjoyed the cookies that we made for him because he only left crumbs!
And the reindeer must have been pretty hungry because they only left a few bits of carrot!
Santa left K her very own car filled with presents!

She was pretty excited!  And loved ripping the paper and bows off of everything!

I think B got a kick out of it, too!  It was fun to see him play with the boxes and wrapping paper.  I think they were more exciting than the actual toys for him!
K wanted to drive her new car to CiCi and Papa's house in Santa Barbara, but we thought we ought to get there before New Year's!  She settled for taking a ride in it while we packed up the big car to go.

And she took B for a ride, too, which he LOVED!  I don't know if you can see, but he's holding onto the roll bar.  He might have gotten whiplash, but he sure did have a good time!

We hopped in the car and made it to Santa Barbara in just under 3 hours! And in our matching jammies!

"Hi! We're the Murphys from San Diego!"
