Baby Brother is already 5 months old! He weighs 15 lbs. 13 oz. (33%) and gets a little bit chunkier every day, which we love! Love, love, love those baby rolls! And speaking of, he is rolling all over the place. We set him down in the family room and often find him 1 minute later trying to roll under the ottoman or couch, which he doesn't much care for. He is so funny with tummy time because he will roll around, but most of the time, he will just lay there with his head up and whine until somebody picks him up...he's not a fan of tummy time at all!
He is sleeping in his own crib in his room now, which we started right after he turned 4 months. We thought it might help with the night-waking, but he still gets up 3 to 5 times per night! It's crazy! What can I say, he loves our company in the middle of the night. We are getting ready to leave for vacation, so I'm not ready to start sleep training yet, but I am beginning to see it in his not-so-distant future! Mama needs to sleep! He naps 3 to 4 times per day, but only for 20 or 30 minutes each. So, far, Baby Brother is not a big sleeper, but I'm holding out hope!
Baby Brother has found his voice, and loves to let us know. Instead of just "A-ghee!" or "Aghoo!," he says, "Oh! Oh! Oh!" It's so cute, and he gets louder if we don't immediately respond. We have 10 minute conversations sometimes just talking and smiling! And he talks in the car, especially, just to let us know he's with us.
The big news is we started solid food over the weekend! He has been staring at food and intently watching us eat for the last month. He has even been grabbing at plates, bowls, spoons, forks, and any food he can get his hands on while we eat, so we thought it might be time. He's not exactly sure what to do with the food yet, but we get a little in his mouth each time. We started with baby oatmeal cereal, but he wasn't a fan, so we are onto butternut squash. He enjoys it more than the cereal, but we are still working on getting some in his mouth. Check him out chowing down for the first time...
Then, we started the butternut squash just two days later...
I had an appointment to take Baby Brother to the doctor for his 5 month check-up and shots on Tuesday, but we were in a car accident on our way there just 2 blocks from the doctor's office. B was perfectly fine and didn't even wake up until I stopped the car on the side of the road. I had to brake to avoid a car that cut me off, and the man behind me rear-ended us. My neck started to hurt immediately, so we went to the ER to have X-rays and get it checked out. B was so great at the hospital and flirted with all of the nurses, who were more than happy to hold and play with him until Patrick was able to come and get us. No fractures; just a sprain from whiplash, I think. It feels like I slept on it wrong. But ice and the heating pad are my new best friends! B is perfectly fine, and K was at school, which I am so thankful for! Our car has just a dent and some scratches, which makes me feel so lucky to have such a safe car...the car that hit us was in bad shape! I am so blessed that my baby boy is safe and sound! I love you, B!
