Merry Christmas from St. Louis!

We went back to St. Louis this year for Christmas and had a really nice, relaxing time!  It was so very cold outside (20's and 30's), so we stayed home at DeeDee and Grandpa's a lot to stay warm.  Every time we needed to go somewhere, it would entail quite a negotiation with K to get her to wear a coat, socks, or shoes....such a California girl!  "No, Mama.  I'll just wear a sweatshirt," she would say to me, or "I'll just wear my flop-flops."

The first day we were there, it started to snow flurry outside.  K was so excited that she was jumping up and down, screaming, "Mama, it's snowing outside!  I wanna go outside and play!"  So, I proceed to spend 15 minutes putting every piece of warm clothing on her that I can find, plus her coat, plus her rainboots with very thick socks.  We both head outside to enjoy the flurries, and 30 seconds later, "Mama, iz too cold!  Go back inside!"
"Burrrrrr!"

That night, we went to our friends' house, Christie and Justin, for some pizza, and Erin and Ryan joined us with their kiddos.  Christie, Erin, Ryan, and I met in law school and have been besties ever since!  I love and miss them, and it was so great to see them!  Here is K with Erin and Ryan's son, Parker, who is 4 months older than K (he was born the weekend of my baby shower in St. Louis, so I got to hold him in the hospital when I was pregnant with K!)
They were so cute together!
And here is Parker, his little sister, Caroline, and Christie and Justin's daughter, Vivi, with K.  K loved playing with Vivi's baby toys....a good sign since she's going to have a baby in our house shortly!
The next night, we went to my cousin's house to say hello.  When we went to leave, I turned on our rental car and cranked up the heat, so that it would warm up while I got K situated in her carseat.  I threw all of our stuff in the front seat, buckled K into her seat, then went around to get into the driver's seat...IT WAS LOCKED!!!  All of the doors were locked...the motor was running...and K was inside buckled in her carseat!  Apparently, the Ford Focus locks automatically right after you turn on the engine.  We tried a few times to get K to open the door or roll down her window, but she is not as familiar with her travel carseat and could not unbuckle her arms to reach.  She stayed relatively calm (and she was warm because the heater was on 80 degrees!) until the police arrived and started jimmying the door.  I felt so bad!  She was banging on the window, crying, "Mama, tell them to stop doing that!"  Luckily, they got it done in about 5 minutes and we were on our way, but it was a little traumatic for both of us.  Not my proudest moment as a mom!

On Christmas Eve morning, we went up to MaMa's house and she was all prepared for K to come visit!  She had the cutest Christmas tree with all of K's presents wrapped underneath, and a Disney princess table and chairs for K to sit and color.  MaMa gave K a beautiful, new baby doll, which K adores!
K was so excited to get her out of the box!

MaMa even gave K the baby carrier to go with her doll...just like Mama used for K!

Hugs and kisses for MaMa!
Then, MaMa helped K put it all together!
K wasted no time putting her dolly on her back (even though we think it might go in the front...we could not convince her!).
One of K's favorite things to do at MaMa's is to ride Patrick's old tricycle.  She loves the little ribbons that hang down and the horn.  She rides it all over MaMa's house!
On Christmas morning, K was so excited to see if Santa had come, and if he had eaten the cookies and drank the milk that she left for him.
The milk was all gone, and cookies were pretty much gone, too!  He must have been hungry!  And we were so happy that Santa found us at DeeDee and Grandpa's house in St. Louis!
Santa left K a beautiful pile of presents, which she couldn't wait to open!
She got new play doh from DeeDee and Grandpa...
...and a pink ukelele!!!  It is the cutest thing ever!  And Grandpa can't wait to teach her how to play it!
They even gave her a new rudolph that plays music!
Here is Baby M at 24 weeks!
We went back to MaMa's the day after Christmas so that she could cook her wonderful meal for us.  There was so much food and it was all so good!  K got to color on her table...

And we got a cute picture of the three generations.
K loved playing on DeeDee's iPad...
Grandpa taught her some of the basics of pool and they rolled the balls down the table, trying to get them in the holes.
I think Grandpa was a little a nervous about her playing on his newly-recovered table, but he was a good sport about it!
And it gave us plenty of time to pack up all of our stuff for our flight the next morning!
K even outlasted Grandpa this night!
We had a very Merry Christmas, and a wonderful time at DeeDee and Grandpa Shelby's house!  Thank you so much to them for having us and for the amazing Christmas!
