Ok, so school had not gotten any better after eight weeks. A few weeks ago, Daddy tried to take her, but it was just as sad. I went in to see what she was doing during her free time and watched without her knowing I was there. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen! I watched for 40 minutes and she never smiled, never laughed, never spoke to anyone, and wasn't even really playing. She wondered around, and then asked her teacher for her Teh-ee Bear because "Mama left me." I died inside!
So last week, Mama started going to school with K, and staying with her, hoping that she will get comfortable enough to tell me bye-bye. Before we make any big decisions about school, we thought we would try one last thing. In other situations, when K is having fun, she will want to be independent from me. I am hoping that the same will be true of school.
The first day I stayed, she was sad at first because she still thought I might leave. But after that, she was herself at school. She was engaging in the activities, playing and having fun, laughing, and even talking to other kids and to her teachers. Her teachers can't believe the transformation! They had no idea what a happy, outgoing, and fun-loving little girl she was because she had been so sad during her time at school.
Hopefully, I will only be doing this for a few weeks, but it is fun to see her in a school setting. Today, the kids learned all about how to keep their teeth healthy, so they got to paint yellow, paper teeth with white paint and a tooth brush, to make them pearly white! One benefit of hanging out at preschool is that I get to take pictures. You can see Teh-ee Bear sitting in the chair behind K...he goes to school with K every day, too!
I couldn't quite get K to smile for the camera, but she was having a good time!
