B started going in the potty when he was 18 months old, so I thought potty training would be a piece of cake. Boy, was I wrong! I tried for one day last summer thinking it would be good to be potty trained before school started. B had about 20 accidents before noon, and by the end of the day he was screaming, "I want diapers!!!" With my hands up, I relented, and the potty training stopped there. I've tried every few days since then, but he really has no interest in even sitting on the potty anymore. I think he was traumatized!
Since the kids are on break this week, I thought it would be a good time to try again. I told him all last week that we were almost out of diapers. On Saturday, I put him in "Big Boy Pants" and just hovered near by with the potty in hand. He went once in the potty on Saturday and twice yesterday. Today, it was 3 or 4 times. He's getting better and really likes the rewards (M&Ms!). I will try anything...
In case you can't tell, he's sitting on his potty while his Lego train goes around him and he's eating snacks while he watches! We even ventured out to the park today. We went though 2 pairs of pants in the first 5 minutes, but he managed to stay dry the rest of the hour, and even went in the potty once while we were there. Maybe it will work this time!
