Today was K's first day of Kindergarten, as well as B's first day of preschool at their new school. We set out our clothes last night and woke up early. Everybody was excited to go and happy to get ready. We're staying in a rental while our house gets a facelift, so we took a few pictures out front before we left.
We got to school a little early so we wouldn't be late. B had to do everything that K did. He set his lunchbox by hers, and his backpack right next to hers.
When the bell rang, it was time to line up. K was very quiet and I could tell she was holding back her tears. She gave me about a million hugs, and didn't want me to leave. She started crying, but I tried to take her mind off of it by introducing her to some of the girls in her class. Her teacher stepped right in and held her hand while I left. I looked back to check on her and she was ok, but a little sad.
She just kept saying that she wanted to be with me. I love her so much and it was so sad to walk away, but I know she will have fun!
Meanwhile...Patrick took B over to the preschool playground. B was trying to set a record for most toys played with before the bell rings!
Then it was time to take him to his classroom. I was so nervous to leave him. He's so little and this is a new school for him. But immediately we saw a little boy playing with cars and trucks...his fave! He also knew we would have to leave and kept saying, "Mama stay wis me!" It breaks my heart! I said goodbye and his teacher jumped in to help me leave.
I was a nervous wreck all day! But K came running after school and said she had fun! And we got the report that B was happy all day, ate his lunch, and took a good nap! Maybe he is ready for school!
I missed them both terribly all day, but I think we're all going to be ok! How did this day come so fast?! Our babies are growing right before our eyes and we love them both so much! It really is like having your heart walking around outside of yourself. I hope that each day gets a little easier, and that they love their new school!
