Baby Brother is 13 Months Old!

B started really walking the day after his first birthday and it's so fun to watch!  He picks his knees up really high and his arms are all over the place.  Unfortunately, he's in the stage where he falls a lot! And gets hurt a lot! We hope it passes quickly.  We bought him his first pair of big boy shoes from StrideRite and he's a size 5 1/2.  He's wearing 18-24 month clothes in almost everything and growing out of clothes so fast.  He has already outgrown the sleep sacks that I bought him only a few months ago!

B has 7 teeth and more on the way!  He is a drool machine and soaks his shirts multiple times a day.  He is eating more and more every day and seems to be a lot more open to trying different foods.  He loves yogurt and cheese, vegetables, and fish, but he refuses to drink milk.  He will tolerate a sip or two of almond milk, but outright refuses cow's milk.  He's still nursing 5 or 6 times a day and doesn't seem to want to give it up any time soon.

B is ready for bed at 6 every night, but we try to push him until 6:30, if we can.  He wakes up once any where between 1 and 5 a.m., and is usually up for the morning at 5:30...too early for Mama and Dada!  He usually takes a little catnap in the morning for 15 or 20 minutes in the stroller or car when we're out and about, and then will take a bigger nap around 11:30 or 12.  I've learned to just go with the flow.  The second child definitely loses out on the regimented naptime schedule.  There's just no way to make it work with school pickups, dropoffs, and activities.  I just do the best that I can and hope he's getting enough sleep!

He loves crawling up the stairs, but when he tries to come down, he resembles a slinky the way that he just throws his body down the stairs.  We're trying to teach him how to come down safely on his belly, but he always just wants to roll down!

Some of B's newer words are "baw" (ball), "daw" (dog), "dooood" (dude), "nigh-nigh" (night, night), "aw dun" (all done), and he always answers "thee" (three) when we say, "one, two..."  His favorite and most-used word is still "oos" or "oosh," which he still says as if he's from Germany, and we're still not sure what or who he's referring to.

His favorite song is Pharell Williams' "Happy" and he immediately starts clapping and dancing when it comes on the radio.  It's hilarious!

While big sister was getting her haircut today, B was test driving the vehicles at the hair salon...
And he is finally in his big boy carseat...
He seems a lot happier and looks much more comfortable than in the infant seat!
We went for his 1-year portraits the other day and he was such a poser!  He was really workin' it for the camera and I can't wait to see the proofs!
