K Update

It has been a few months since I posted an update on what K is up to. K is 2 years and 3 months old and doing so much! I'm pretty sure she just went through another growth spurt because I went to get her some new shoes and they told me she was a size 10! She loves to use those shoes for running, too! Mostly, away from Mommy and Daddy in public...she thinks it's a game and we're chasing her. She'll say, "I'm going to get you!" and keeps running. It's scary, but she's usually giggling uncontrollably, so it's really hard not to laugh with her.

She talks a thousand miles a minute about anything and everything that is going on. She's quite the weather girl around here: "Mama, need my glasses. Sunny ott dayer." (Mama, I need my sunglasses. It's sunny out there) "Rainy ott dayer." (It's rainy out there.) The girl definitely knows what she wants and is not afraid to say it. I find myself going "upstirs" to play tea pawty, and then "downstirs" for play-doh or art all day long.

It is so miraculous how much kids absorb at this age, and how much they hear and understand, even when they can't quite verbalize everything yet. She has a book, a puzzle, and a poster from the teacher store for learning opposites. I thought she might be too young, but we started talking about it a few months ago and sure enough, she started learning them. For her favorite, she'll whisper "Quiet," and then 2 seconds later, she'll shout from the top of her lungs "Loud!" She thinks it's hilarious!

Her favorite game is still tea pawty, but she loves coloring, painting, stickers, and play-doh. For her tea pawties, she sets all of her friends (Bear, Pooh, Kitty, Owl, Panda, and Baby) up in chairs, pours them tea and cooks them eggs. And she talks to them the whole time she's doing it. She's still way into Elmo, but has recently discovered the Disney movie, Tangled. When she's allowed to watch TV, or when she doesn't feel good (she was recently sick with a number of ear infections and bronchitis), she wants to go into Mama and Dada's bed and watch "princess."

We're still doing stroller strides and K and I both still love it. She looks forward to seeing all of her friends and even plays stroller strides when we're at home. We're taking a break from music class, but we're taking swim lessions and she's doing great! She'll be a little fish this summer we hope.

Her bedtime has moved back a little to 6:30 or 7, and she still sleeps until 7 on most mornings. She's also been taking some really good 2-3 hour naps, which I love so that I can get things done! The potty training is going well and we've had a few days with no accidents. She loves her big-girl pants, and even wears them most days for naptime with no accidents in her bed. She still wears a diaper at night, but I think she will have to for a while until we transition her to a big girl bed and she can get and go when she needs to.

K has definitely gotten more picky with her food. She's obsessed with oatmeal and has to have it every morning. "Beans and dia" (beans and quesadillas) are the go-to for lunch and dinner, but she's recently started trying and liking a few more vegetables, including carrots and salad. And she likes to rotate around the kitchen table when she eats. Rarely does she want to sit in the high chair anymore. She likes the booster, or even just the chair. We have a little white, kids' table in the kitchen for her now, but she keeps it for play-doh, coloring, and stickers. She would rather eat at the "brown" table.

CeeCee and Papa were in town this past week and we stop by Carl's Jr. where they just added a Green Burrito (they were just putting up the sign!). Here is K testing out the beans and dia, and milk shake of course, at the new Green Burrito...Yum!
