K is 2 Years Old!!!!

I cannot believe it! Our little baby girl is so grown up! We go to the doctor this week, so I don't have her stats yet, but she is growing out of her clothes faster than I can wash them and put them on her. Some of her size 3's and 4's are too small already!

K is talking a thousand miles a minute about everything that is going on around her. She is finally saying "yes" (as opposed to "Uh-huh"), which we are so happy about! She loves using adjectives to describe different items. One of her new favorites is "soft." She will pet her stuffed animals and say "Kitty soft." She also loves to tell me how good things are, like her breakfast or dinner, "So good, Mama!"

K is definitely a girl who knows what she wants! She loves to sing and knows the words to her favorite songs. She makes all of the requests about which songs are to be played in the car. Thank goodness I have it loaded with all of her CD's! We bought her a kids' mp3 player/boombox for her birthday and it's a hit!

Katy Perry and Elmo sing a version of "Hot n Cold" about dressing up, so K calls it the "Dress-Up" song. I put her down for a nap the other day and I heard her singing the words..."You...change mind...like girl...I know." I was cracking up listening to the monitor!

K is getting better at recognizing her letters and numbers. The other morning, she came in our bed and actually read the clock...she recognized the 6 and knew it was ok for her to get up (even though Mama and Dada would have appreciated it if the clock had said 7!). (She still sleeps in a crib, but occasionally, she wakes up in the middle of the night and wants to come into "Dada and Mama bed" to sleep for the rest of the night, and she is quite persistent. Like I said, she knows what she wants!) When she sees the number 8, she thinks it's the letter "B", which is pretty cute. She's getting better every day.

She is still obsessed with playing "tea pawty", and especially loves cupcakes and birthdays! She bakes cupcakes in her little play kitchen, including stirring them in her mixing bowl with her spatulas, and baking them in a muffin tin in her play oven. She sings "Hap Birt-day" quite often (mostly to herself!) and wants to blow out the "ken-dal" (candle). K also loves to dress up. She rarely goes anywhere without her rainboots on, regardless of whether it is 80 degrees and sunny. And we have to have her sunglasses at all times! I'm so proud!

K also loves the trash and recycle trucks. She points them out if ever we see them while driving, and she runs to the window to watch them empty the trash at our house. She also loves to help me with the trash at home. She will take the bag out of the trashcan (if she can lift it), and then gets so excited to put the new bag in, and the trashcan back in the cabinet. We always sing the "Thank You for Helping" song after she does it.

Not only did K have a fabulous Hello Kitty birthday party with all of her friends at "choo choo park," but her birthday fun continued on the actual day! She got to open the rest of her presents...

And then, we headed to the train station for K to ride the train for the very first time! Since K loves trains so much, we thought it would be fun to take her on the Coaster for her big day. Don't leave home without sunglasses and boots (today, it was the cowboy boots, which were perfect for our train ride to Old Town!)

We bought our tickets...

...and headed down the ramp...

...to the train platform. It was wonderful to have Mimi and Grandpa Bill with us, too!

We taught K about staying behind the yellow line, and holding hands with an adult while on the train platform.

K waved at the train (like she does at choo choo park), as it arrived into the station.

Still waving!

Then it was time to board the train. K was on her way!

She waved at all of the kids at choo choo park...

...and checked out the beach.

She went to sit by Grandpa Bill for a change of scenery...

...and then, came back to her seat for a snack.

We walked around Old Town for a little while, and then it was time to get back on the train.

K met a little friend on the train and they were all over the place, bouncing from one chair to another. Here she is with Dada in the back of the train car.

Riding in style on the way to the car...

After the train, we went to Fidel's Mexican Restaurant for K's birthday dinner...her favorite: "cici-dia and beans" (quesadilla and beans). She ate an entire plate of beans and loved every bite!

Then, we headed home for one last birthday cupcake, the birthday song, and the "ken-dals"

We sang "Hap Birt-day"...

...we clapped...

...and K blew out the "ken-dals", one by one.

"Gyen! Gyen!" (Again! Again!) she said. So, we lit the candles and sang "Hap Birt-day" one more time...

We clapped for the birthday girl...

...and she blew out the "ken-dals" one more time!

What a fabulous day (and weekend!) celebrating our precious girl! I love you so much, Sugerbun!
