K is 13 Months Old!

K is 13 months old already. I know I say this every month, but I can't believe how fast she is growing up! It seems like yesterday that we just brought her home from the hospital. It was just one year ago that she was so tiny (ok, so she was never really tiny, per se, but tiny to us!) in our arms, so dependent.

Now, she's walking, practically running, everywhere, talking up a storm, and most of the time, she does the limp noodle when we hold her because she wants to get down and explore. Her newest word is "nigh nigh" for night night when she's going to bed. She'll say "nigh nigh" to Patrick, give him a kiss, and then say "Bye!"

She's eating pretty much everything, but she's starting to get pickier. She doesn't always like what I'm serving for that particular meal, but she might be in the mood and eat it the very next day. Cheese is still her all-time favorite...string cheese, mac n' cheese, grilled cheese, she likes them all! When she won't eat what I've made her for dinner, I know she will eat mac n'cheese with some vegetables mixed in, so she definitely doesn't go hungry. She's loving berries, bananas, and oranges. We've introduced whole milk, but she's really not keen on it. I've been trying everything to get her to drink milk, including mixing it with skim milk, vanilla soy milk, and frozen berries and juice for a smoothie. I even tried formula and she gave me the ugliest face I've ever seen; she did not like the formula whatsoever! For now, she's still nursing, but I will continue to push whole milk!

K LOVES, LOVES, LOVES mashed potatoes and gravy! I cannot describe to you what it is like to watch her eat them, so I caught it on video...

She refuses to be spoon-fed anymore and wants to eat all by herself, but I have to load the spoon for her. She licks the spoon multiple times and her fingers to make sure she gets every last bit!
