K is 7 Years Old!

Where did the time go?! K is 7 years old and growing by the day!  She wears a size 10 in clothes, and a size 4 shoe.  I can't wait to take her to the doctor to see her stats...she's going to be as tall as me in no time!  She still only wears dresses and skirts, usually with leggings or shorts underneath.  And she is very upset that the size 4 athletic shoes no longer come with a velcro strap.  While she has known how to tie her shoes for a few years, she still prefers the laces with the velcro on top!  I had to go online and search far and wide to find some velcro shoes in her size!  Thank you, New Balance!

She is currently taking ballet lessons, figure skating lessons, and swim lessons.  She truly loves figure skating and wants to be on the ice as often as possible.  And she is blossoming in ballet and getting better every week.  She played in the local recreational soccer league in the fall.  She not only dominated on the field, but she developed a love for soccer!  She can't wait to play again next fall.

She loves riding her bike and scooter, and still loves the monkey bars at the playground.  She tries to see how many times she can go all the way across. She likes to swing and still enjoys building sand castles (or cakes, or muffins, or cookies!) with, or without, her brother (as he is usually the destroyer!).

She is obsessed with Legos right now and really enjoys building them, but also just playing with them after they are built.  She has quite a collection of structures.  We need more shelf space!  She also really likes her American Girl dolls and all of their outfits and accessories.  And she is still way into her stuffed animals, especially those from Build-A-Bear with all of their outfits and accessories. If she ever gets lost, we might find her buried under her stuffed animals...she has so many and has a personal attachment to each and every one.  She will not part with them!  She received a sewing machine for Christmas and really loves learning to sew.  Between her love for clothes and accessories, and that for sewing, maybe she will have a career in fashion!

She still loves doing all sorts of arts and crafts, especially pottery and ceramics.  CeramiCafe (paint your own pottery) is her happy place, so much so that we will host a few of her friends there for her birthday in a few weeks.  She can't wait!

K is doing great in school, in both French and English.  She is reading and writing (even in cursive!) very well, and has received a perfect score on every spelling test so far this year!  We are so proud of her!  Her teachers rave about how sweet, kind, and generous she is with her peers.  She really loves her friends and classmates.  While she used to cling to me at drop-off, I now get a quick hug and a wave and she's off to see her friends...it's bittersweet!

K used to be a very picky eater, with main food groups of bread, cheese, fruit, and sugar.  But, hot lunch at school has changed our lives!  She now eats salad, vegetables, and pasta with more than just butter!  I really love how the hot lunch program exposes them to all different types of foods.  And her motivation to eat and try everything is that she must eat a certain amount in order to get dessert....whatever works!

I can't believe it was 7 years ago that she came into our lives and changed our world, but it has been the best 7 years of our lives and we are so blessed to be her parents!  We love you, sweet girl!
