B's first day of summer camp!

B's preschool, where we did mommy-and-me all year, has a little summer program in the same room with the same teacher. The kids can go up to 3 times per week for 2 1/2 hours each time. I signed B up just to try it since he will be starting preschool this fall. I thought it might be a good transition since he is familiar with the school and teacher.

We got him all dressed and took him to school. He was happy to be there...until he found out we were leaving! Then he was suction-cupped to me and screaming. It was really hard to leave him, but I thought he would be fine once we left (just like with a babysitter).  I said goodbye about 3 times and headed out. But, K and I stuck around to make sure he was ok. He freaked out a little at first, but he would stop and be fine. There were two other kids that would not stop crying, so every time he saw them crying he would start again.

The teacher turned on some music and he calmed down and even started dancing a little.  He seemed to be ok, so we got in the car.  We were gone 15 minutes and I got a call from his teacher!  I could hear him hyper-ventilating through the phone, so we raced back.

But, of course, by the time we got back, he was fine and playing with his friends. His eyes are all puffy from crying, my poor boy!

His teacher wanted him to end on a good note, so she asked us to come back in a half hour. He was doing just fine!

B was there by himself for a total of 1 hour, and we are so proud of our big boy for going to school all by himself! I know it was hard for him! And for me! But maybe it will be easier next time?!
