I was a little anxious about the moment K would discover that St. Patrick's Day fell on a Tuesday (she only attends school Monday, Wednesday, Friday this year), and she already missed it last year because it fell on an off-day. I was so excited when her teacher told me on Friday that they would love to have K join them on Tuesday for all of the festivities! It's her last year at preschool before she starts Kindergarten in the fall and her teacher didn't want her to miss the special experience that her students always remember. The only caveat was that I had to keep it a secret until Monday night, so that she wouldn't make any of her school friends feel sad that were younger and didn't attend school on Tuesdays.
When I finally told her, she was ecstatic! And picked out a special green dress to wear to school just for the occasion. I think she felt like such a big girl going to school 3 days in a row.
The kids woke up to some special treats, and K had picked out some special presents just for Daddy on his day...
Then we headed to school for the big reveal. We were all instructed to arrive right at 9:00, not late and not early. All the kids waited outside the gate until everyone had arrived. Then we all went inside and oh my goodness! What a sight! The leprechauns had quite a lot of fun at school overnight!
The leprechauns pulled out all of the green toys: green Legos, green Magna-Tiles, green trucks, and green trains. They left gold coins, gold nuggets, green feathers, and green beads. There were streamers, confetti, and little green handprints and footprints. There was even green sand in the sandbox and green water in the potties. It was so fun to watch the kids discovering all that was left behind and collecting all of their treasures.
K had a blast! And B was just happy to be playing with cars and trucks!
