Happy 1st Birthday, K!

K turned 1 year old last Saturday! She weighs 26 lbs. 1 oz. and is 32 1/4 in. long. She walks everywhere and is very quick! She is very independent and does not want to be held very often - she would rather walk around on her own and explore. She is eating everything she can get her hands on. Her favorites are blueberries, grapes, and mashed potatoes and gravy! We go through a carton of blueberries every single day! In addition to her vocabulary of da da, ma ma, and na na (her blanket), she has added baby, hello, bye, and ba-du (book).

Her birthday started early with presents from Grandma and Grandpa Murphy! Grandpa took her for a ride in her very own Cozy Coupe!


Now she prefers riding in the Cozy Coupe to the stroller!

Her birthday continued when she came up the stairs after her snack to find...


...her very own kitchen set!

We had a little party for Princess K and turned the house into her castle! Patrick has been joking with me for the past few weeks calling our house a sweatshop because every time K would go to sleep, I would go straight to the sewing machine and sew away on decorations. Luckily, we had great weather and could use the backyard, as well as the house for the party.

We had a burrito bar and a yummy cupcake tower!


Grandma and Grandpa Murphy had a special princess dress made just for K!

K had the best time! She walked all over the party and said hello to all of her guests!

We sang Happy Birthday to K, and Mommy and Daddy blew out her candle and made a wish for her!


She got a birthday smooch from her BFF, Weston!

Then, we let her dig in...

...but, she really wasn't as excited about the cupcake as we thought she might be...


MaMa flew in from St. Louis just for K's birthday and tried to help her with the cupcake.

Then we gave K a fork and she totally went for it!!!



Grandma and Grandpa Bill flew in on Wednesday to help with the party and did soooooo much! Grandpa Bill had to leave straight from the party to go to work, but we are so glad that he was able to come!





Here's K opening her presents...it was definitely the birthday of boxes, bags and tissue paper...they were more exciting than the presents! But, she loved all of her gifts!




We also had K's 1 year photos taken by Heather Moreau of Vallentyne Photography. Heather was our wedding photographer, and has also taken photos of K as a newborn and at 6 months old. Heather is amazing and K's 1-year photos are no exception. She wore my overalls from 1979 for some of the pictures! Here is the link:
