We had to go to the doctor for her shots and let me tell you - it was traumatic...for Patrick and I! I could not even watch, so Patrick took her and laid her down on the table. She was smiling up at him, as if they were going to play, and without warning, the nurse administered the shots! K's smile quickly turned to the "saddest face" Patrick has ever seen, and then she immediately began to wail. As soon as I heard her sobs, I began to cry as well. We could not console her until I nursed her. She stopped crying, ate, and then proceeded to sleep for the rest of the day. As she slept, I watched her like a hawk, and Patrick called to check in every hour. Patrick was worried that she would be scared of him, since she was looking at him when she was in pain, as if to say, "Daddy, why are you letting them hurt me?!" But, as soon as Patrick arrived home, Patrick and K were thick as thieves! K smiled and played, as if nothing had happened. Thank goodness!
We have to go back in three weeks for more shots, and Patrick says he may need some counseling before we go!
While Kensley and I were having playtime on her playmat yesterday, I was so excited when she actually grabbed the rings hanging off of the whale. Before, she would stare at them intently and waive her arms and legs about, but had never actually touched them. Here are some pictures of her batting them around. And later that day, she even grabbed my hand!
